Manicure and pedicure: the basics of hygiene and safety

Despite the fact that no medical procedures in a nail salon is not carried out, the requirements and standards for hygiene and safety must be observed.

As with the medical procedures, beauty treatments and manicures involve close contact with clients. During a manicure or pedicure can be damaged skin or the nail plate of the client, so it is critical to carefully carry out all hygiene procedures. In order to protect yourself and clients from infection and transmission of pathogens, all salon staff must work in accordance with health regulations. In Germany, the Federal law "On the prevention of infectious diseases", under which must be carried out inspection, detection and prevention of the spread of the virus, came into force on 1 January 2001.
Modern products for all skin types, nail care and manicure, as well as sanitary products such as cleansers and disinfectants for hands and surfaces, contain various chemicals. Therefore, masters of manicure you have to work with chemicals every day that failure to comply with certain rules, can adversely affect the skin of hands and nails.


Pedicure

Careful and accurate work with products containing chemicals that will allow the masters to avoid possible chemical reactions harmful to health. Compliance with safety standards when using products and materials will prevent such effects as redness, itching or allergic reaction that may occur immediately, or maybe later, as the master and the client. In addition to the risk associated with pathogens and allergic substances, there are a number of hazards: for example, an uneven surface, electrical appliances, poor organization of work and physical and mental stress can have unpleasant consequences for customers and for employees. Working in a nail salon, it is necessary to work not only in accordance with established laws and standards but also, equally important, requirements of trade associations.
