Indications for use:
The drug is intended for use in the event of urticaria, acute and chronic eczema, conjunctivitis, food Allergy, drug Allergy, atypical dermatitis, serum sickness, angioneurotic edema (angioedema), allergic reactions to insect bites.
Pharmacological action:
Suprastin helps to alleviate allergic reactions, and prevents their development. The drug helps to deal with skin itching and burning as a result of allergies, providing a calming and moderately sedating effect. The effect is evident after 15-30 minutes and lasts from 3 to 6 hours. Suprastin has inflammatory properties and peripheral anticholinergic activity. It is extensively metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine as metabolites. In children, the drug is excreted faster than adults.
Usage instructions:
Doses depend on the type of drug and age of the host. Tablets are designed for internal use, the solution may be for intravenous and intramuscular administration. Dose for an adult is 25 mg (1 tablet) 3-4 times a day. For children aged from 1 month to years daily dose is no more than 1/4 tablet 2-3 times a day. Children from to 6 years old may take 1/4 tablets 3 times a day or 1/2 to 2 times a day. Children from 6 to 14 years of age can be given 1/2 tablet 2-3 times a day. The dose is allowed only in the case that there are no side effects. The dose should not exceed 2 mg per kg of body weight of the patient. In special cases, acute allergic reaction, the patient may receive intravenous Suprastin, but only under medical supervision. Gradually the patient is transferred to intramuscular injection, and later on tablets. For intramuscular administration the dose is 20-40 mg (1-2 capsules) per day. Contraindications:
